STOCK-DERIVED FIRMWARE · TD-H9 V1.0.38

Firmware experiments,
with a way back.

Brick Breaker keeps the stock channel screen and launches when you hold Back. The build source, guided installer, backup checks, and HID recovery tool are available together.

BRICK BREAKER / GUIDED INSTALL

Build the game from source.

The CLI downloads and verifies the pinned Type-C v1.0.38 stock package, patches it with the tested game, creates a fresh backup, and asks before writing. You enter USB Update mode with the 8 key. macOS uses a separate experimental HID install path.

RECOVERY / PTT + 2

Keep the backup.

The tool saves the radio's main-flash backup before the BR23 write and includes a pinned HID restore command. Recovery requires the backup from your radio and PTT+2 HID mode, with a solid green top LED.

GET STARTED

One command to prepare the build.

Python 3.11 or newer is required. Run with build first to download, build, and verify the package without touching a radio. Remove build when you are ready for the guided install.

Windows · PowerShell or Command Prompt

py -3 -c "import urllib.request as u; exec(u.urlopen('https://raw.githubusercontent.com/melidosian/h9toolbox/main/firmware-research/brick-breaker/bootstrap.py').read().decode())" build

macOS or Linux · Terminal

python3 -c "import urllib.request as u; exec(u.urlopen('https://raw.githubusercontent.com/melidosian/h9toolbox/main/firmware-research/brick-breaker/bootstrap.py').read().decode())" build

Generated firmware and backups stay on your computer. The CLI cannot press the radio's update-mode keys for you.

PROGRAMMER COMPATIBILITY

Can I still edit channels with Brick Breaker installed?

Yes. On the TD-H9 used for the Brick Breaker trial, H9 Toolbox's Web programmer successfully read and wrote radio programming while Brick Breaker was installed. This confirms the combination on one radio; other radios and CHIRP have not been tested with this image. The Web programmer cannot load a .fw file.
